Advanced Treatment

The treatment of breast cancer has changed dramatically over the years and Loma Linda’s breast cancer program is on the cutting edge. We invest in the technology, training and expertise to make every treatment opportunity available to our patients.

For example, the Breast Health Center is one of the few centers in the United States that offers proton therapy for breast cancer patients. This noninvasive therapy is an accurate more focused form of therapy than other forms of external beam radiation available today for early-stage breast cancer.

The Breast Health Center offers a number of other advanced treatment options. For example, our breast cancer surgeons perform nipple-sparing breast surgery, minimally invasive breast surgery, breast conservation surgery, oncoplastic surgery, and breast reconstructive surgery. We use innovative techniques to ensure the best surgical outcome such as Magseed localization — which uses new implant technology to locate a tumor’s precise location within the breast for surgical accuracy. Women also have access to immediate reconstruction after mastectomy. Our breast cancer program is also involved in major national clinical trials, allowing patients access to new and promising treatments.

Personalized Medicine

As a patient of the Breast Health Center, your experience is completely unique. And for good reason. Every breast cancer is different as is every patient. Our breast cancer program provides compassionate care that is focused on the individual. This may include targeted cancer treatments such as immunotherapy to highly coordinated breast surgery with immediate reconstruction.

Because every patient’s response to treatment is also unique, we connect patients with a dedicated nurse navigator to answer all your questions and guide you through treatment.

Convenient, Accessible Care

Battling breast cancer can sometimes feel like a full-time job. Whether you are driving to appointments, undergoing outpatient therapy or planning a hospital stay, we understand that having a breast cancer program that is convenient and accessible can make a big difference.

The Breast Health Center offers the most comprehensive cancer program in the Inland Empire, providing medical excellence without the stress of traveling outside the San Bernardino area. In fact, all our services — from the most advanced diagnostic services to surgery, medical oncology, reconstruction and radiation treatments — are all located under one roof. This level of convenience decreases stress and allows your loved ones to be closer to you throughout your care.

Patient navigators are registered nurses trained in oncology care to guide you through the challenges of dealing with cancer. They are here to support you as you go through diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Contact the Patient Navigator team at 800-782-2623.

A Focus on the Whole Patient

We know that breast cancer can affect every aspect of your life — from how you feel each day to your relationships, finances and everything in between. The Breast Health Center cares for the whole person — not just the cancer. That’s why our breast cancer program offers a wide range of support services to help you every step of the way. This includes nutritional counseling, patient education, pastoral care, psychosocial counseling, support groups and much more. We also provide a team of experts who offer support in managing treatment side effects.

As women, we are often focused on caring for others. Now is the time to make yourself a priority. Find a breast cancer program that is right for you. The Breast Health Center at Loma Linda University Cancer Center can help.
